In 1994, Mr. Shirazee established and managed as CEO a financial broking firm, Finex Securities Limited. The firm was a corporate member of the Pakistan Stock Exchange – active in the local equity, fixed income and foreign exchange markets. He sold the broking firm to a local investment bank in 2006. Later in 2006 he set up and managed, IGI Funds Limited, a mutual funds business that launched and managed equity and fixed income mutual funds in Pakistan.
In 2009, he acquired a small financial broking firm in Pakistan and re-branded it as Vector Capital. The firm was re-capitalized and currently deals in fixed income, foreign exchange, and commodities futures and also distributes open-end mutual funds in Pakistan.
Mr. Shirazee is also the Chairman/Sponsor of Vector Securities (Pvt.) Limited, a stock broking firm with the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
Mr. Shirazee did his MBA from Karachi and holds a Diploma from the Institute of Bankers in Pakistan. He is also a Certified Director from the Institute of Corporate Governance, Pakistan.
In 1993, he moved to Karachi as Treasury Head, First International Investment Bank. In 1995, he joined NDLC, the largest leasing company in Pakistan, as Head of Treasury and Corporate Finance. Representing NDLC, he was also the Nominee Director for KASB Premier Fund. In 1998 he served as Head of Treasury for Mashreq Bank, Pakistan managing the commercial bank’s liquidity and foreign exchange positions.
In 2004, he moved to Vancouver, Canada and joined Pak National Foods as CFO – a fast growing family business representing various international food brands.
In 2010, he acquired shareholding of Vector Capital, a financial brokerage firm in Pakistan, and is currently on the Board of Vector Capital (Pvt.) Limited.
Mr. Akbar completed his MBA from University of Western Washington and Bachelor of Business Administration & Economics from Simon Fraser University, Canada. He was President of Financial Markets Association of Pakistan in 2002 & 2003.
Zahid holds an MBA in Finance from IBA Karachi and during his 27 years with the banking sector, he has accumulated an enriched exposure and an in-depth understanding of treasury/fund management, commercial banking, investment banking and Islamic finance.
Zahid has been active with the Financial Markets Association of Pakistan (FMAP) as a Member of their Technical Committee and as Chairman, FMA Election Commission.
